More than 400 young people start engineering studies in the new bachelor's majors of the School of EngineeringThe total number of applicants to the Bachelor's degree majors at the School of Engineering clearly increased from previous years. Female applicants were especially interested in the Sustainable communities major, which focuses on changes in the built environment.
Our research focuses on Arctic technology, sustainable built environments, mechanics and materials, multidisciplinary energy technologies and systems design and production.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is a leading multidisciplinary research establishment with strong industrial ties and impact on industry and society alike.
Our work at the School of Engineering is inspired by the needs of society. We seek to contribute to the development of society by taking an active role in Finnish and international life – dialogue with a variety of stakeholders and cooperation agreements with the Capital Region municipalities and key partners support this aim.
The Foundation supports the scientific research and teaching of technical disciplines. The Foundation awards grants for MSc and DSc theses on a continuous basis, with the help of industry-donated funds.
The School of Engineering operates in a number of buildings at the Otaniemi campus of Aalto University.
